The Greater Your Problem, the Greater Your Opportunity

So there was this BIG FUCKING POLITICAL SHINDING on the UK screens earlier and I mean JESUS SHIT dude that stuff was awesome. I mean so OFF THE WALL, you had the three main political parties battling it out against each other, it was INTENSE. I mean I’d never seen ANYTHING like it, it was like Tekken Tag Tournament but with more guns, and shit. And then they did loads of opinion polls and stuff afterwards and Nick Clegg took the lead because he was like the underdog man, and David Cameron spoke shit and Gordon Brown made some jokes that were a bit crap but WHO THE FUCK CARED because it was so GODDAMN BREAKNECK that I couldn’t even focus on what was going on over the sheer EXCITEMENT of it. Fuck! I hadn’t been so exhilarated since I saw Speed 2! Seriously man who knew British politics could be so fucking unchained?

On to the completely unrelated topic that is Will Powers. A recent discovery of mine, they released one album of novelty (yes, novelty) songs called Dancing For Mental Health. It was basically a project from photographer/biographer/all round cool kid Lynn Goldsmith, the underlying concept of which was that each song dealt with how music and dancing could sort out all your mental issues, repair broken relationships and generally make you a better, well-rounded person. Considering the negative connotations of novelty records it should be a welcome surprise to know that this happens to be a slice of really tight, funked up new wave that’s also kind of hilarious at times. It’s weird that the LP remains fairly unknown nowadays despite featuring an all-star cast. Turns come from everyone as far flung as Carly Simon, Nile Rogers of Chic and Sting, whilst being mixed by the legendary Todd Rundgren. Okay, maybe those aren’t that far flung but yaknow – it’s still aces and I’d recommend everyone check it out. Here’s my favourite track of the batch, Adventures In Success. ?

  1. “I hadn’t been so exhilarated since I saw Speed 2!” That made me laugh may more than it should have. It was pretty epic.

    Liking the tune too!

  2. This blog is so on point. I love just kicking back with some toast and a glass of milk and reading through these pages. And you always manage to post stuff that I love at the same time wouldn’t usually listen to/find.

  3. Haha, this is great!
It has me smiling, and tapping my feet at the same time
