See Other People

My most played tracks have been all about wobbly beats and crazy percussion recently. I suppose it has something to do with the prospects of upcoming heatstrokes but I’ve been craving for happy music as of late. Lewis CanCut‘s new EP Neon Saxaphone has proven to be something that is well worth having on repeat while having your first late night drinking sessions in the park. The percussions could best be described as crazy yet subtle beats with cute basslines and massive saxophones. As if that isn’t enough on its own, the track has also been remixed outstandingly, so as a little giveaway here’s Chico Ye‘s redo to get in the mood. The entire release is to be found on the Melbourne-based Scattermusic label.

Phantasy Sound has just put out its tenth release (Congratulations!): Paul Chambers‘ much anticipated Yeah, Techno! After being an opening DJ for the likes of Soulwax for about two years, Paul has finally arrived on the Phantasy grounds with his own full-fledged release that is bound to stay embedded in everyone’s memory for a while! It has most definitely been designed for that point during a clubnight where you enter ~the chill zone~, which is my favourite Dutchism and a way of indicating that all is good. You probably just feel like going “Yeah! Techno!” or in ways more suitable for girls, “Woo! Techno!”. No surprise we have been bombed with this track during live sets of Soulwax as well as Erol Alkan and Boys Noize for over half a year, and it’s cool to finally have it out as a release, including a remix by Beatacue that might be damaging to the ears, in the best possible way.

As a soundtrack to your upcoming week, brand new Bristol-based Build Recordings have released a new mixtape, in the safe hands of UK-based Baobinga and Romanian bass monster Cosmin TRG – their little minimix battle has resulted in 22 minutes that swings from house to dubstep and back again. They’ve done this as a little celebration to a new release of two sweet new tracks by Baobinga, one that features Cosmin TRG and another one with Ginz, which you can both preview on Soundcloud, something I strongly recommend!
