Preview: Untold – Bachelor’s Delight / Little Things Like That

One of Clone’s sublabels, the Clone Basement Series imprint that has been running since late 2009, has always been a sterling retreat for good music. The start of the series administered us house and techno tracks in the main, produced by the likes of Mike Dehnert, Conforce and 2562’s moniker A Made Up Sound. Over the last three years there’s been nine releases in the series, the latest one by the hand of Klakson co-founder Dexter. This release, “Great Northern Diver”, moved away from the CBS lineation a little by subtly leading into a bass territory but perfectly fitting in with the older releases. Jack Dunning, aka Untold, will be taking care of the tenth release which goes under the name “Bachelor’s Delight/Little Things Like That”, his first Clone-related release. Untold, like Dexter, is not afraid to change his sound or rather doesn’t want to stick to one, although grime, jungle and dubstep palettes come to mind when listening to his previous releases – this release however, the b-side “Little Things Like That” in particular, goes more techno than we’re used to from Untold. We’re witnessing a juxtaposition of development between Dexter and Untold maybe: where Dexter draws for bass for the Clone Basement Series, Untold opts for techno, something we hadn’t really heard from either of them before. Both CBS09 and CBS10 are records that succeed with the same strengths: it highlights the energy and dedication to the producers’ artistry to never rest on their laurels, and shows how Clone and its sublabels will always be unconquerable by putting out riveting releases. No release date yet, but previews are up to stream.
