Came across this guy working under the name IL yesterday and it took me quite a while to find any information about the guy. All I know is that he hails from Illinois and this 17 track EP on Error Broadcast is his debut release. No idea how long it’s been in the making, but the amount of intricate sounds and collection of unearthly samples this guy manages to put together in his tracks is astonishing. With every track at only around 1 minute in length it really is an acquired taste and tracks that require a little more attention and really have to be played at the right moment for full effect. I’d like to think there’s a deeper story to the EP that we’ll never know about, as the 17 track names make up an unjointed sentence starting with “Private Service Announcement, To Her, For, Things, She Kept To Herself, Like Me”. It’s a strikingly emotional experience with pitched up and down vocals cuts and the off beat percussion really breathing life into the tracks.
