Wheel Me Out “Biazzaro Eurotica”

It’s Halloween this week, so everyone’s in the mood for spooky dark music that makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand up. Resident Advisor were quick off the mark with an exceptional podcast from Alan Howarth, frequent collaborator with John carpenter on the soundtracks for the latter’s films. It’s a gorgeously chilling mix, one which really suits both the turning of the seasons and the general air of macabre in the air.

What I’m really psych(o)ed about is a new release for the Wheel Me Out blog, which I gather is called Bizarro Eurotica, from two Australians named Jake Judd and Nikki Sarafian. Plunging the Italo giallo horror style for influences, they’ve put together eight new tracks that are dripping with terror and intrigue. Incredibly, they’ve plundered the likes of Moroder, Pink Floyd and Men Without Hats, as well as aping the style of Blondie’s Rapture, but, have managed to make them sound fresh and exciting, and, given the timing, I couldn’t find this release more charming. I’ve posted Control Thyself, which is a sort of Italo-esque takes on Midnight Express meshed with the aforementioned Rapture, and Jive With Care, a very dangerous Safety Dance. Be sure to check out the rest of the release here.

While we’re on the subject, go get stuck into some art horror and watch Suspiria, or at the very least listen to this.

The only thing we have is apathy and nihilistic tendencies…
