Ahhh, Belgium. Belgium, Belgium, Belgium, you foxy little swine. Not only do you seduce us with your waffles, your chocolate and your, er, moules et frites, the country that gave the world of electronic music the precious gifts of Aeroplane & Villa continues to provide us with irresistibly decadent temptations – this time in the form of space disco cadets Mustang, aka Renaud Deru & Andy Faisca. They’ve spent this year quietly repping away and adding their cosmic twang to remixes that include Casey Spooner & Jake ‘Scissor Sisters’ Shears ‘Spanish Teenager’ and The KDMS’s utterly delicious ‘High Wire’, amongst others.
Having received the gold-standard seal of approval from the aforementioned fellow countryman & groove pioneer Aeroplane, and as part of this summer’s Kitsuné Ponystep compilation, this week they continue to delight and spoil us further with a complimentary hat trick of suitably ice-cool re-edits – two-thirds space disco (or for all the disco purists, ‘really smooth low swung house music made in the last 5 years’), and one-third pure drum-banging nostalgia:
