Listening to the Records On My Wall

Today I have for you a great up and coming British MC, Obaro Ejimiwe. He hails from Coventry but now calls London home and performs under the moniker Ghostpoet. His distinctive delivery and style already makes his music stand out from his contemporaries. His first E.P The Sound of Strangers was released back in June and can be downloaded in its entirety here. It was also back in June when I got to see him live in London on possibly the smallest stage in the world. Don’t quote me on that though, some dingy place has probably got the rights to that title it could be a libel nightmare. But it sure was small, but that didn’t stop Ghostpoet from putting on a great show and it was refreshing to see he could pull his complex sound off in a live environment when so many others fail. Apparently from what I have read his album is close to release and I am for one very excited to see what this man has up his sleeve. He certainly is one to watch out for and most importantly listen to!

First up is an unofficial remix of Four Tet’s ‘She Just Likes To Fight’, it features magnificent vocals from ROX which coupled with the lovely guitar riff creates a really emotive atmosphere for GP to excel in. Laverly.

GHOSTPOET FT. ROX – TO SOMETHING (320 kbps)

Next song is my personal favourite from GP’s already impressive catalogue of songs. Produced by Micachu and featuring vocals by the very same lady. I love everything about this beat and all those unconventional sounds you expect from her. All the while Ghostpoet’s lyrics keep it on the same curious vibe. Don’t think I will ever tire of this song. [
