They’ve already put out a release this year in the form of the limited “Fuck Yonkers” bootleg (ACLBLXXX) but this November will mark the first official release of Amsterdam-based label and party Audio Culture, and they couldn’t have thought of a better way to commence themselves than what’s coming our way. ACLBL001 will display a collaboration between two of Amsterdam’s finest names in the shape of Presk, whose release on Ten Thousand Yen (“Love Again” EP) and lovely Truancy Volume is still etched in our minds, and Yuri Boselie, known as Cinnaman (Viral Radio, Colors). The two producers have teamed up to create a track named “Sweat”, a track reminiscing a 90’s house vibe with the fetching organs layered over it, but also hinting at UK garage a little with its warm vocals and subtle bassline. There are several vocal samples to be heard in the song and although they are varied in nature, all of them co-operatively contribute to the narcotic and slightly dirty setting. A smooth dancefloor track suited for any time of the day or night, and a great title track to the first settlement from Audio Culture as a label.
The release comes with two incredible remixes by none other than Jon Convex (half of Instra:mental) and Doc Daneeka, both giving their own personal whirls to the original. Where the initial mix takes a slightly more strapped down approach, Doc Daneeka opts to add subtle and dexterous rhythms to the available voids, creating a softer outcome that’s built around the indelible melody that can be traced back to the original. Jon Convex advances into a more hard-hitting road, with cadenced beats that shape the darker vocal samples into a hypnotic and wholesome track. The remixes explore entirely different options with regards to the original, but they both succeed in creating their own accessible interpretations of “Sweat”.With a debut EP like this, we can’t wait to find out what’s to follow on the burgeoning Dutch label. Both the physical and digital release will hit the stores in November, exact details to be announced soon. Preview the tracks below, and find your way to one of their upcoming parties if you’re around.
