Earlier today, the cable television network Adult Swim (who have been running the Single Series in the past where they gave away unreleased cuts by people from Brooklyn rapper El-P to the metal outfit Mastodon) and the more logical dance music platform Scion A/V teamed up to give away a compilation of “eighteen rare or unreleased” tracks for free. By no means an exaggeration, but this is no surprise as the latter affair has been making waves with their giveaways for years now as well, most recently with their free Omar-S EP. The eighteen tracks on this compilation, named {Unclassified}, go from a digital version of Burial‘s “Street Halo” to tracks that have been surfacing in mixes over the year such as Pinch‘s “Blow Out The Candle” and the fantastic Ginz’s “Chrome”. New talent such as Dauwd stands alongside settled dubstep artisans like Kode9 and Zomby, all resulting in a bass weighty compilation of over an hour. The Lukid track however is unfortunately the unfinished version but still a gem – hopefully the right version will see the light soon. We could complain maybe that this is all too overwhelming, but why would we? A package of some beautiful mid-range, no-nonsense tracks by the best producers out there right now. Stream our personal picks below and head over to this page to view the full tracklisting and download the entire file. While you do that you can watch two new video interviews with Actress and Pinch as well. Allow us, once: thank you bass god.
