I was supposed to go camping today but the rain hit hard in Brighton today, making this unfortunately a trip for another day. All was not lost considering a producer who’s been making big sounds along with fellow producers Myd and Sam Tiba this year, just dropped a debut EP titled ‘Jetpack’ on London based label Sounds of Sumo. He’s also got a pretty good name. Canblaster; dunno what it is, I just like saying it. When I’m finished writing this I’m going to go blast some cans in the garden. So his debut EP, ey? Well, it comes with three tracks titled ‘Jetpack, ‘Dawgs In The House’ and ‘Thunderdome Got Crunk’, the first being a nice UK Funky and Detroit inspired track that I can imagine will be huge by the end of the year, although its the more booty rhythm based track ‘Thunderdome Got Crunk’ that has really caught my attention. It’s a brave move with the trance like synths but Canblaster really pulls it off with a clever mixture of catchy melody and nicely cut vocals. Top marks in my books and a good way to finish off a set in my opinion. Also to give away is a solid remix of the title track by Talk and a 30 minute mix by the big man himself.
