Yolanda Be Cool‘s We No Speak Americano was undoubtably this years biggest summer dance track to make its way into the mainstream. At times it was inescapable (I even heard a housewife sing it in Tesco) and other times rather enjoyable (check the Myd remix). As time passed I quickly grew tired of all the “ba ba Americano” rubbish and vowed that I would never listen to it again. A month down the line I caught wind of a Lil Silva remix that forced me to re-evaluate my rather militant position. Lil Silva for those who don’t know is one of the leading UK funky producers, being one of the golden boys for label of the moment Night Slugs. His remix is a massive funky rework of the original that bangs hard, as to be expected the snares sound absolutely huge and all round the production is amazing. The track starts in a rather glitchy manner that may be a tad off putting for some, but when the ‘Lil Silva’ vocal sample hits you know something big is gonna happen (and it does).
