A thing of beauty is a joy forever: this remix of Nosaj Thing’s Fog by Jamie XX is, following this reasoning, everlasting bliss. A combination of two of my favourite producers at the moment; there’s nothing in this world that would make me any happier at the moment! Nosaj Thing has remixed The XX’s Islands in the past, and now the producers are taking turns. The outcome is a slightly unearthly and spacious track, as if it were the soundtrack to a sci-fi movie, but in a good sense. It starts off really slowly but gradually speeds up, using lots of dreamy synthesizer chords along its way and eerily pitched vocals. Yet, this track doesn’t leave me creeped out. Quite on the contrary, it leaves me with a quite astral feeling as if I went to Omicron Ceti and back in as little as five minutes. This track is a free download off the new Nosaj Thing remixes EP called Drift Remixed, that will be coming out through Alpha Pup Records the second of November; a release that holds remixes by Daedalus and Dorian Concept amongst others – big things, big things, for release details see here.
