Kia Ora, let me introduce myself! My name is Louis Helliker-Hales, I’m 21 years of age and live in the beautiful (however somewhat boring) city of Auckland, New Zealand. I’ve been meaning to contribute towards a blog for some time now but unfortunately I’ve never really found the time or place to do so. TRUANTS has been on my radar since the start of this year and I’ve had the privilege to see it blossom into the awesome site that it is now! Fortunately I also happen to know several of the writers on here from the illustrious ‘Erol Alkan Forum’ so it’s exciting to know that I’ll be sharing my passion with like-minded people. There was a moment prior to the start of this year where I more or less lost all hope in blogs… It seemed that all my favourite blogs were dropping like flies or simply resorting to posting pics of cute girls and a link to a mere track or two. Just today it was announced that one of my favourite blogs ‘Curb Crawlers’ would no longer be up and running and I’m devastated to say the least! Oh well, let’s hope blogs like TRUANTS will help to inject a little inspiration into other bloggers out there…

Just to give you an idea of what I’m in to, I’m currently in love with labels like Deadfish, Sound Pellegrino, Anabatic Records, Get Flavor etc. Bear in mind that doesn’t mean I plan on restricting my posts to revolve around that one ‘sound.’ Expect me to pull a ‘Brodinski’ here and there and drop a Hip-Hop track or two in just for kicks! My little brother Ben and I produce under the moniker Chaos In The CBD. Ben is the brains behind the project and I’m the one who does all the shitty jobs like burning CDs and emailing people, haha. If we were characters on Entourage he would be Vincent Chase and I’d be his sidekick Eric Murphy (minus the array of beautiful women surrounding us). The funny thing is that we both used to despise dance music up until a few years ago, however since discovering and accepting it we have never really once looked back. So as a little ‘exclusive’ present from us, here’s one of our recently finished bootlegs for Nightcrawlers. I only discovered Nightcrawlers a few days ago when my friend and I went for a drive and he put on this CD that his dad had given him (apparently music his dad used to play when he was a DJ). I instantly recognized the vocal hook on Push The Feeling On and thought it would be fun to do a little bootleg of it so I got my brother to whip something up! Hope you like!
