Every so often you stumble across an artist so interesting that it reminds you why music is such a beautiful thing. Not surprisingly, I’m about to tell you about one. T&A (Tittsworth and Ayres for those that don’t know…) have a long history of putting out good music, but they have just excelled themselves with this release

Munchi, a young Dominican producer living in Rotterdam, Netherlands, is a relative unknown, but displays staggering range on this EP; from the aggro electro-dancehall of “Shottas” featuring Mr. Lexx to the beautiful ambient dubstep of “Madre No Llores.” “Toma Essa Porra” is somewhere between Baltimore Club, Baile Funk and Dutch House, with screaming car alarm synths, African funk horns and raucous shouting. Keeping it rowdy, Murda Sound shares Bmore and Dutch elements, along with a Dubstep bass and Reggae vocal drops. Rounding out the EP is Hope, a deep Moombahton track with haunting chords and a chilling female vocal. Buy Munchi’s Murda Sound EP here.

But don’t get the idea that this is all Munchi has up his sleeve – in Spring 2010 he sent Dave Nada a few Moombahton tracks, and these, along with all manner of bmore, bass & tropical, swiftly became secret weapons for a select group of DJs, with their ears to the ground, one of whom (Dirty South Joe) put together this live mix for the Mad Decent blog, which he has kindly let us use here at TRUANTS, and as a special treat there’s also one of my favourites from the mix to download as well.
