For a precise duration of seven minutes I panicked when someone linked me up to the Soundcloud of Glass Actor without giving me any names – looking him up didn’t give me any accommodating results either, so I consulted my last resort (Twitter) and found out that the man behind this project is the one and only Greg from Acid Girls. The reason why I panicked? Well, obviously, the quality of the music I found on his profile. Five solid (yet unmastered; but still of high quality) tracks given away for free, because the artist isn’t down with the game that’s called building up hypes and waiting endlessly for distribution and whatnot. Maybe I’m not up-to-date enough, but when I think of the L.A. based duo Acid Girls I think of a sound that’s worlds apart from what Greg does with Glass Actor. The sound of this project is way lighter; the distorted sound has made its place for impressive percussion parts and instead of rushing through the tracks there is no need to hurry anymore. Sit back and listen to this lovely handful of tracks, although there is enough space to bounce for the people who fancy to do so. My personal favorites are Don’t You, a track with a combination of mesmerizing musical guidance smoothly combined with female vocals (and yes, I do) and Distraction – a track that takes you on a trip to the fiftieth American state, very nice tropical feelings all around. A certain Young Turk who loves his steel pans would be slightly jealous of this piece, I assume. If I were you I’d grab these tracks before the downloads run out; head over to his Soundcloud profile to get the other three. De rien.
