Come Home

Sorry for the sudden disappearance but alas, summer festivals were acalling and I’ve been raving it up in Serbia for Exit Festival the last 10 days. I may share some stories if you lot want to hear them. Me and my mate starting an all crowd crouch down for ‘Escape Velocity’ by the Chemical Brothers will be one story I will definitely be telling the grand children. I’ve also got lots of videos to upload of all your friendly superhero djs and bands including LCD Soundsytem, Erol Alkan, Chromeo, Boys Noize, Hudson Mohawke and Crookers for anyone that wants to check them out. Anyways enough chit chat of how I’ve been enjoying myself and more talk of the music that I’ve missed in the last 10 days! Firstly is a compilation release from Brownswood Recordings which sees 15 unique different artists all conjuring up their own blend of funky, downtempo dubstep and minimal drum and bass. Artists include the very talented Shlohmo, Pearson Sound, George Fitzgerald and Mout Kimbie to name just a very few. Not to just leave you foaming at the mouth with just a lengthy description I’ve got two tracks for you guys from the release in no less than glorious 320. First is a nice little funky edit of a track called ‘Berlin Call’ by an artist called Von D. Only felt fitting to share this particular track considering two of the TRUANTS are busting out some moves in Berlin at the moment. Second tune of the day is a track by Pearson Sound called Wad which takes itself a little less seriously than the deep vibes on Von D’s track and instead provides a carnival-esque sort of funky track with some very tight percussion and framework, with the odd garage vocal thrown in. All in all, this compilation is easing in the pain of being back home and I definitely would recommend picking up the whole release. If you are interested you can get the whole release here.
