As a matter of course, there are some artists that stick with you during the years – and even if you don’t rinse their records anymore like you used to do back in the days, you will still go after new releases, cassette tapes and the like just because it’s in your nature. Instinctively I do this with every artist that mixed us a Truancy Volume ever; and I mean, as I’m already watching them closely it seems like an out of reason good idea to update you on our previously featured artists every now and then. I’ll kick it off with the Parisian tech-head supreme Qoso, who mixed us our fourth mixtape and was the victim of the first interview we ever did on here (proclaiming his love for “Berlicago techno”). What’s new with him? A couple of gigs, some new charts, but more importantly new tunes. Included on the latest EP by the American trio Lemonade Qoso delivers yet another sharp techno track alongside other remixers Le Chev and Twin Shadow, the tune jokingly described as ‘toxic techno’. And yes, it’s profound indeed; sailing the seas of tech and Qoso’s trademark percussion this track goes down very nicely. Given away for free on Fluokids a couple of weeks ago this little treat turned into a free download, a lovely bonne bouche for all of us.

And there’s even more to this entry than one track, behold! Qoso has done a mix for the remarkable Tsugi Podcast series recently, right in between Michael Mayer and Don Rimini. Not the smallest names, one could say. Tsugi refers to Qoso as “the French house producer of tomorrow” which is an acknowledgement I give the go-ahead to, so good. The mix offers you over an hour of music, bouncing between tracks full of pep, acid and bounce, switching back to a more haunting straight-up techno sound throughout the course. Qoso never fails to amaze!
