And now for something completely different, from me. It’s always a good feeling when you stumble across an artist on the internet who’s music you automatically love, this good feeling suddenly turns to sheer joy when you find out that this said act has released an album and a number of remixes for completely free. In this case it happens to be the gifted Greymatter, a British future garage producer whose bonanza of goodness can be found here.

The album Mind Over Matter oozes with quality from the get go, and tinged with the occasional sound of hip-hop I was always going to be a fan. He doesn’t stop there though, as he switches through techno and dubstep with effortlessness, displaying the traits of a truly talented producer. Darkness is a constant feeling throughout, yet GM manages to let uplifting moments sneak in with a real finesse without them seeming out of place before plunging you back into the depths. Not afraid to change things up, each song is so different from the last, the complex sounds and samples allow you to go on listening for such a long time before you’ve realised you’ve already done 3 laps around the record and the tea’s gone cold. With two remix packages already released with remixes from artists such as Throwing Snow, Illum Sphere and Klic there’s plenty to keep you entertained and most importantly, dancing.

Already with a follow up album to be released on Wolf Music, Greymatter shows no sign of slowing down and he’s already a credit to the already brilliantly strong and talented future garage scene. Go forth and listen.
