I don’t know about y’all, but when I’m out traveling by the public transport system, I prefer take my hyperactive music levels down a notch as there’s a limit to the soundproofing quality my headphones can provide outside. I’m usually able to live past it, but as the wise prophet K. West once taught us, peer pressure could get the very best of us and we all get self-conscious at times. I can’t always ignore the fiery disturbed and judgementally laden stares that are thrown at me when my excessively loud beats are pumping. Apparently not everyone in this old town can appreciate some doses of kuduro and bass from time to time, so I guess I’ll have to be the considerate neighbour here and switch my music to “calm stroll” mode every once in a while.

This doesn’t necessarily have to be a bad thing though. People like Babe, Terror have turned this whole dilemma into a win-win situation for me by providing me with the best kind of toned down city walks music. The Brazilian artist’s harmonies are perfectly cool and clean and the around feel is somewhat twistedly eery to a point where the city walks turn into abandoned ghost town walks. If you’re not in the mood for an Inception-like dream like this, Phantasy Sound are releasing a perfect balance between the stroll and the beat with a new remix EP for Babe, Terror, featuring remixes by Appleblim and Four Tet. While Appleblim’s interpretation holds to the walking pace and keeps the dream theme going, Four Tet’s rework pays respect to the original eery city vibes and swiftly manages to combine a heavy beat into this. There’s a limited edition vinyl coming out soon as well, and it sounds like this EP is worth going into that collection. ?
