Where You Should Be

Mr. Mirau was a man of the world, a kind soul and tolerant of all things. He had a gift, the gift of inspiration, a muse as it were. Legend has it he is over 100 years old, some say even older, like 500+ years old. Rumours have it he had a hand in creating the now world famous Oktoberfest back when ever that started. A lover of women, he also made sure he ‘inspired’ women of the big chested variety to take up bar work at the event. Like all good men he was a great enthusiast of bread, it’s been said he inspired bakers all over Germany to create at least 168 types of the 300 plus varieties that now exist, something that apparently the Germans are now famous for. Others say he was the man who inspired Hasslehoff to unite Germany through his music and break down the Berlin Wall in 1989. But on this occasion in 2005 he inspired 3 friends who lived in the flat above him to go forth and create what can only be described as one of the best music labels in Germany. In his honour they called it ‘Mirau’. We salute you Mr. Mirau, hero, legend and most importantly gentleman.

Now I don’t know if Mr. Mirau cast any of his powers over the latest release from the label, Erdbeerschnitzel’s To And End EP but it’s laced with beauty and a wonderful groove throughout. The best track for me though is ‘I Wonder’ which bounces along with a lovely beat then from no where you get hit by a slice of funk heaven and all you can do is dance where ever you may be and nod your head. And boy those vocals are something else. This has to be one of if not my favourite song of the year. So I highly recommend you go out and buy this EP. But why stop there? Mirau’s back catalogue boasts of greats such as Tensnake, Iron Curtis and Arp Aubert. Buy it all.
