Up & Down the Stairs they Come

Mondkopf – Deaf House (stream)

The Toulousian prodigy Mondkopf never fails to amaze and bewilder. His entire discography is a wonderful trip of intense sounds and noises, printed with his recognizable unique touch of captivating synthesizers and a perfectly dosed pinch of distortion. His old tracks never really get old, par example see his remix of Johnny Cash’s God’s Gonna Cut You Down which has been a constant factor in my everyday occasion playlists for as long as I can remember. His newer work however stays innovating, see his enthralling remix for Aufgang’s Barock where he turned the original light piano parts into a heavy-weighted mad house of synthesizers and industrial percussion. Compare the two and get blown away. He recently did a lovely remix for the equally lovely Caribou too, as seen on the Fact website. Where other artists would disappear up in thin air after putting out so much material on the internet in such a short period of time, he has also done quite the mixtape for Dazed which varies from Clipse going into Utopia and ends with the queen of dream pop Barwick.

Mondkopf Mix for Dazed (Includes track listing + a little interview.)

After putting out five releases the last couple of years, he’ll enlighten us with a new one at the end of the Spring – Deaf House EP (vinyl and digital on Asphalt Duchess). Today the A1 of the release has been unleashed on the internet, which is the self-titled track of the EP. Myself, I’m quite enjoying this bomb of new Mondkopf material & I think you do too.

  1. Great stuff! I really like both his ‘Declaration of Principles’ EP and ‘Galaxy Of Nowhere’, so it’s supercool to see him getting coverage.

    I see a crosspost coming.
