Sorry for the lack of posts recently. Uni interviews have been bumming me from behind the last couple of weeks but luckily I break up for Easter tomorrow and I can devote a lot more time to TRUANTS. We take a trip to the wonderful city of Lisbon, Portugal for my next post. Most of you, or I hope so, are probably aware of Buraka Som Sistema. They’re a fun loving group of four guys making some crazy kuduro influenced electronic music. They’ve released two albums and several EP’s on labels such as Sony BMG and Mad Decent and have even won an award at the MTV awards. I frankly have no idea what an MTV award means nowadays but it sure does look good on paper so kudos to them. One of the guys has been recently working hard, crafting his own productions under the name J-Wow and his first single titled ‘Klang’ was released last week on the label Deadly. Limited to only 300 copies it definitely is worth a purchase. Klang is a beautifully immersive track filled with delicious old school drum breaks and soaring, dreamy pads that just make me want to get on a bus and stay on it for a whole day whilst listening to this song on permanent repeat. His next single “O Dedo” is out on Mad Decent sometime in April and looks set to be an amazing follow up. Check out the video and as a bonus here’s his remix of “Nows The Only Time” by Fever Ray.
