It’s always exciting to enter a new phase in your life – be it starting a new instrument; applying to universities; moving to the other side of the world; or, in my case, receiving the opportunity to write articles about music, art, and literature for a highly respected site on the net. Discovering new music, experimenting with art, exploring new lifestyles is a habit many of us should follow. It gives you a feeling of, perhaps, satisfaction? Now, in terms of music-talk, it’s just as exciting to finally get your mittens on an EP that you’ve been waiting for since its release date is official. Currently, there is an astronomical amount of releases floating around here and there, and more and more labels are swiftly rising to the very top. There’s so much to choose from. This, again, makes it rather exciting. The art of discovering is not only limited to the spheres of art; it merely extends far beyond the outer boundaries of our creative lives.
I hereby want to share with you and introduce Fex Fellini‘s latest and greatest, and in fact, first EP, Kudos To The Jack – released under Top Billin’ records – and indeed, a masterpiece in every sense of the abstract word. This well packed EP consists of four original tracks – so, enough space to let go on any musical temptation the artist feels. No guidelines, just pure original music. Having gotten support by artists like Manaré, Canblaster and Round Table Knights, the German DJ, born Fex Fellini, can be assured that his solo EP will receive only the success it deserves. And so far, I believe it’s working. This definitely is not the last thing we’ll hear from the young talent. Stream half the EP below, but don’t forget to purchase it here. All in all, a more than enjoyable release, which many of us should have stacked in the middle of our iTunes shelves, playlists, and what-not. Kudos to Fex.

The title track, Kudos To The Jack is quite a serious track, with overlapping vocal-like sounds and objects pushing from left to right, only to be broken by silence halfway, which forms a smooth transition to a backing saxophone. This track definitely pays due homage to the EP’s title.

The fourth and final track genuinely wraps up this grand piece of art. One can almost say that, quite ironically, the climax of the release takes turn somewhere in the first quarter of this song. The highlight, indeed. In many ways a relaxing track, too. The term “save the best for last” is right here. Save the best for Kolo, I say! ?
