Premiere: The Last Trip to Gandahar – R136a

With five years since the label’s inception, the Leicester-based label City Fly marks the 13th release in their catalogue with a specially curated package featuring its label founders alongside some special guest collaborators. Having grown from a small club night into a much-championed outlet for quality house music, names such as Fred P, Basic Soul Unit, Red Rack’em and Kez YM can be found littered throughout their discography. The forthcoming In House EP which drops at the end of the month, gets set to continue in usual fashion with City Fly residents Jonna, Arthur Jnr, Darran P and J’Shez all contributing cuts. Jonna hooks up with Samwell on production duties as Truants favourite Lady Blacktronika provides vocals, while J’Shez drops in a remix of past City Fly contributor Flori. You can also head over to Flux to check out the Darran P cut at its full length. Ashley Stevenson, who usually goes by the alias Arthur Jnr, makes his vinyl debut under his recently launched project The Last Trip To Gandahar, which we’re able to premiere in its entirety today. Sampling a two-bar loop, and adding all the extra vocal flourishes that make a perfect disco number, it’s a chugger of a track that will no doubt rock the day-time festivities this summer.

City Fly – In House EP (inc. Flori, Lady Blacktronika, Jonna & Samwell, The Last Trip to Gandahar, Darran P, J’Shez) is out on City Fly on the 28th March
