I didn’t think anything could top beating Newspaper Suduko on the ‘fiendish’ setting today but a new release from Steve Starks, on Tittsworth and Ayres label T & A records, was definitely enough to challenge it! Steve Starks, who also makes up the Nouveau Richie Crew with Nacey and Gavin Holland, is somewhat of a legend in Washington DC, known for putting on some of the best parties in the city, which led him and the guys onto winning Best Dance Night in the City Papers Best Of DC issue, back in 2008. This is his first solo release on T & A, having only previously released a collaboration EP titled Time Run Out with Nacey. His new EP titled Git ‘Em consists of two originals and 3 remixes from Zombies For Money, Dillon Francis and label owner Ayres himself, making up a nice little package of musical goodness. Now, T & A records has always been one of my favourite labels, releasing constant quality from the likes of Dave Nada, Rob Threezy and Tittsworth and Ayres themselves and this EP is no different. Git ‘Em sounds like a beefed up, ghettotech version of Plastikman’s Spastik, starting of with some minimal percussion before busting out with a healthy dosage of rolling snares and bass. To give away today we’ve got the Munchi Kuduro remix of Git ‘Em, which unfortunately didn’t make the EP due to time constraints but an EP from Munchi should be out soon on T & A for all your Munchi needs!
