Soraya Brouwer has played a pivotal role in amplifying a diverse range of artists and their groundbreaking work. In 2010, she co-founded Truants alongside Riccardo Villella, a platform that has become a driving force in showcasing these voices. She also started DJing and organizing events across Europe during this time.
Soraya’s DJ sets and Truants events have become known for pushing the boundaries of culture, serving as a stage for artists to shine. Her passion is evident in her thoughtfully curated selections, seamlessly traversing the realms of house, techno, and acid. The result is sets that effortlessly captivate and invite listeners, offering a sense of warmth and familiarity throughout. She has showcased her style for the likes of The FADER, Crack Magazine, and DISCWOMAN.
In addition to releasing mixes herself, Soraya also established the Truancy Volume series, which now encompasses more than 300 mixes. The mix series has attracted a diverse array of artists and boasts both upcoming and renowned names, including Bicep, Wata Igarashi, Jayda G, Ben UFO, Peggy Gou, Yu Su, Batu, and many others.
Furthermore, Soraya is dedicated to elevating artists in music technology and currently works at Ableton, leveraging her position to provide support and opportunities within the music industry. She shared her expertise and knowledge over the years by hosting events and lectures for platforms such as Resident Advisor, The Barbican, Dimensions Festival, De School and Primavera Sound.
After an enriching period of six years in London, followed by music technology explorations in Berlin and Barcelona for two years, Soraya has returned to her hometown of Amsterdam, reconnecting with her musical roots after almost a decade of exciting experiences abroad.
