Drake edit, after remix, after hit, after remix after edit afterhitafterremixafteredit and still nobody seems to tire of mister Aubrey Graham’s vowel-chime and harmonies, due to the alarmingly good Drake-related quality floating around on the double. One of these aforementioned edits that caught our immediate attention and stole our hearts is the rather unheard-of edit of one of Drake’s tracks by Deadboy, Fireworks, the track by Drake featuring Alicia Keys that charted the U.S. Billboard without locking up an official release.

Southeast London based Deadboy has a relentless talent for chopping, screwing and hyping up the usual vocals and giving the heaviest bass support system to back them up. His EPs on Well Rounded and Numbers entitled U Cheated and If U Want Me respectively were uncondensed testaments to his sensational skills in giving us the perfect beat to vibe to while providing us with intimate and familiar vocals, and I most definitely believe more than a few of you are familiar with his remix for Julio Bashmore‘s Um Bongo Revenge (to be streamed through Deadboy’s Myspace).

Despite having edited out the original verses of Fireworks, Deadboy seems to have effortlessly captured the essence of the track without even having a lyrical aspect to tell the tale. Heck, in a way the fast-flowing vocals combined with the heavy bass beat resemble a type of laid-back comfort that embody the atmosphere Drake was going for on his debut album Thank Me Later in its entirety. “Boshed this together as a little DJ Tool. Absolutely loving the Drake album at the moment,” is producer’s Deadboy unobtrusive footnote to his startling Slo Mo House Edit of Fireworks. A bit too modest, really. Drake – Fireworks (Deadboy Slo Mo House Edit) is simply one of the best adaptations of any Drake track ever so far.

To our great satisfaction, Deadboy’s edit will see a release on the label run by DJ Donga Well Rounded Records, on their newest compilation Cash Antics 2. The previous and premiere Cash Antics volume featured Deadboy’s different caliginous and infectious interpretations of Cassie and had the songstress’ exquisite confidential photography to match the cover. The second compilation release will also hold a new track by Doc Daneeka featuring Gatto Viola which can only promise an even more astonishing offshoot. If only we could listen to this release forevermore; we would never try to find fault in any other musical piece again!
