Stream: Charleston – Red Hearts Of Gold (Youandewan Remix)

Even though Youandewan has been releasing music for years he is still very much a mystery, which is something to be desired in a world where even your neighbor has DJ page on Facebook.  It’s not as if he has no online presence, but he just possesses more restraint then most of us.  His most notable release was last year’s “Youandme (On My Mind) / Zeal” on Skream’s Disfigured Dubz imprint, two sensual garage influenced tunes complete with warm liquid low-ends.  He’s also responsible for one of two excellent remixes of Maya Jane Coles’ “Nobody Else”, released on Hypercolour last September.  That brings us to his latest piece, a remix of Charleston’sRed Hearts Of Gold” for the fledgling label, Good Bait.  It sees him returning to business as usual, four-to-the-floor.  Built for the club, Youandewan takes what was originally a vocal indie meets beat music song and turns it into something full of polyrhythms and reverb.  The original vocal is lightly dusted over the track with reverb tastefully applied.  Mixed together this creates an interesting DJ tool and adds worthy remix to his growing body of work.  It definitely merits a listen and sits well alongside the original.
