Review: Hector & Nate – Big City EP

It’s been a while since we’ve last heard of Belgian house crusaders Hector & Nate. Since the release of their successful first EP a while back, the two have been moving from club to club all over the place, but nothing really popped up productionwise. At least, that until yesterday. Their second lovechild, titled Big City EP, was released the 21st of April on MSMD records. The release is Beatport exclusive for now, but let’s just sit that out. The first big city to be featured is the Indian IT-epicentre we know as Bangalore, an easy going percussion based track lead by a spooky Indian vocal. Europe is up next with Milano, judging the DJ feedback, the most loved track off the EP and I can see why. A straight forward classic house track with a cool saxophone break, points for originality there. The last original track, New York, cools things off, bringing a smooth jazzy groove and spoken word vocals. Remixes are provided by new kids on the block The Criime, who bring deep house to Bangalore and Sweat It Out’s Bongo with a sunny remix of Milano.
