Cosmin TRG/Martyn & Mike Slott

Sorry for the slight decrease in posts lately but sorting out university applications and graphic portfolio’s has seriously damaged my tired soul and made me incapable of doing anything else the last week. I also cut my finger on some glass. I almost died no joke (yes joke). Amidst all of this commotion in my life though, there have been some great releases this week which I think you guys should know about. First up is a two track release from Cosmin TRG on 50 Weapons, who decides to change things up a bit from his previous output and take a more Berlin/Berghain approach with two fantastic techno bombs. Fans of Ben Klock and Marcel Dettman would approve. Cosmin TRG’s sound is most definitely maturing and I highly approve of this. Stream his track Separat below and purchase here.

Next release that I’ve been playing a lot this week is a collaboration between heavyweight producers Martyn and Mike Slott who team up as part of a collab series Dublin based label All City recently started. You cant put two big names together and not expect something of the upmost standard and these two certainly don’t fail on that promise. On the A side ‘All Nights’ which I have a feeling Marty had more input on, is the more club orientated track taking influences from 90’s US house and draping it together with a mixture of stabs and cowbells. Yes cowbells. These two manage to close the gap even further on genres as this track could easily work its way into  all sorts of DJ sets from House to Techno to Dubstep. On the B side, which I have a feeling Mike Slott had more input on this time, ‘Poiting Fingers’ oozes you in with the crackle of vinyl before harps and glitchy percussion gradually erupt in a cosmic array of ethereal goodness. As if these guys needed any more praise but this is a great EP that should keep everyone occupied for months to come. Stream ‘All Nights’ below and purchase here.

  1. All City in the house! Nice one. Fitting reminder that not everything about Ireland sucks right now.
