Truancy Volume 2: NT89

The time has come for us to proudly introduce you to a brand new TRUANCY VOLUME! Italian-born producer Nima Tahmasebi has earned himself quite a few titles such as the studio assistant of the Bloody Beetroots and Lazy Ants, but is best known for his work as NT89. For those of you who have mysteriously missed out on this gem- over the past few years NT89 has had his share of own releases and a fair amount of remixes put out on prestigious labels such as Pias/Sony Music, Turbo Recordings, Boxon and Southern Fried and has been favourited by all of your top DJs. Altogether, his work explores a wide range of different and intriguing sounds that will keep you wanting more.

Nima recently revealed in his BBC Radio 1 session that his current musical cup of tea should be flavoured up with a lot of hype and pounding. So far, 2010 is treating this Rome-based talent well as his Pumpin EP, in collaboration with DISTRAKT, was released three weeks back and has been running out of vinyl stocks and deservedly skyrocketing charts over at Juno Records. In between all of this exciting buzz, Nima dedicated some of his time to create a wonderful mixtape for us at TRUANTS. This delicious fifty minute mix will help you catch a breath after a rough day and gives you the chance to zone out to some highly necessary laid-back and light hearted tunes. His own comments? “It’s not my DJ set that you hear in the club, let’s say it’s more like an essential mix. I recorded this live in Rome on 3 CDJs and a mixer.” You heard the man so sit back, relax and let yourself get carried away by NT89!

An interesting sidenote for us Dutchies is that Nima has recently moved to Rotterdam, which means he has quite a few gigs in the near future all over the Netherlands! So we would recommend that you make sure you keep an eye on his dates. Playing out the TRUANCY VOLUME 2: NT89 mix at the pre-party in your car should get you in the proper mood!
